The story behind Frank Sugar Shack
The story behind Frank’s Sugar Shack is all about our son Francis who we dearly called Frank. In 2008, my wife Denise and I bought a land parcel on McNeil Road in Moose Creek. During the acquisition process, when Frank first saw the wooded area of the parcel, he told me that one of his dream was to build a house there one day.
The final acquisition date was almost here and by that time, Frank had fulfilled another one of his dream, buying his first motorcycle. On the sunny morning of the closing date, Frank tragically left us while riding his dream in the wooded roads of Moose Creek.
In his short time with us, Frank lived with an eagerness for life and a passionate love for nature. In 2015, in honour of his memory, his sister Nathalie designed the maple sugar shack and we built it together as a family.
In it’s first year of boiling in 2016, we produced around 220 gallons. In 2017, we added 800 more taps for a total of 1600 trees. Since then, we often gather with our family and friends at Frank’s Sugar Shack and remember our dear Francis (Frank) and his time with us.
